Wouldn't it be nice...

..if individuals on the Internet didn't treat their anonymity like a reliable mask?

I've never understood people who act like jackasses on the Internet. Trolls, I suppose I should refer to them as?

Let me make an exception, however.

Those who are mean/in your face/etc. in person? I completely understand their idiocy elsewhere. It's who they are. Thoughtless in person, thoughtless on the Internet. At least I know where you stand.

What really gets me is the mostly 'normal' people who understand/usually follow social etiquette. You put one of those people on the Internet and some of them somehow realize that they can make fun of others to their 'faces' without consequence. Someone who might be able to hide their hatred/irritation in person does a complete 180 on the Internet.

I just don't get it. Maybe I should be glad I don't.

Another thing that bothers me lately: I've recently been noticing people going to others' pages and commenting things like, "Such a great gallery! I hope you'll come comment on some of my pictures!".

Not to be offensive or mean, but the people I've witnessed doing this actually have the talent to bring in viewers without 'begging'. Normally, I would expect it from a 13 year old amateur 'anime artist'. Not from a 20 something who knows what they're doing.

Am I the only one who usually holds artists who seem to know their craft to a higher standard of etiquette? I know that being direct/honest isn't necessarily wrong, but somehow it just seems rude. "Great gallery. I hope you'll take a look at mine!" That's generally just a given. Either they appreciate your comment enough to take a look, or they don't.

I'm just being nitpicky there I suppose..

I'm still trying to find myself in my art, but I feel like I'm very close. Alls I know is it feels good to create and that's what I'll do until my ol'ticker stops.

Oh hey! You left a comment on my page! Hahah. I'm not usually here. I come only when I post my no-so funny comics, hahah. Judging from some of your work posted here, you're Marzipanapple!!! And I really enjoy your stuff! I remember, not sure which derby it was, you had this design of some wolves and a girl, but i'm not sure if you submitted it. I think that was really cool. You sure got some illustrating skills, which something I clearly lack, hah. Anyhoo, keep up the delightful work and many luck to your future entries! :)

Yeah, I never submitted that one. I liked it, but then it looked kinda weird on the shirt. Anyways, I hope you'll post more here soon. :)

Hi Applefritter,
We really liked the Mystery piece that you created. We think you should submit it to a contest on our new website Poligraphic.com. You may ask, “What is Poligraphic.com?” First and foremost, Poligraphic.com is a venue for artists to showcase their artwork and enter contest for cash & prizes for their designs. Once the most popular designs are identified, Poligraphic.com will feature these designs on various accessories and apparel for purchase. So we hope you’ll check us out
:iconapplefritter:
Thanks very much. :) I'll definitely think about it!

Me: Katie, we all know you're a 5150.
Katie: Yes, I know I'm a mental case.
Me: Yes, I think we all have a 5150 inside...
Katie: Well, mine is on the outside too!
